Disneyland’s Toontown Reopening Information

Today is Mickey and Minnie’s 94th birthday. As a part of the celebrations, Disney Parks has officially released information on when Toontown in Disneyland Park will reopen. The magic date has been set for March 8, 2023!

Toontown has always been one of the areas of Disneyland that was in need of an update, but with where it is situated, planning it was tricky. The Team Disney Anaheim building that houses many of the corporate offices for the theme park sits right behind Toontown. Additionally, it is where the fireworks are launched into the sky each evening.

What Changed?

When Toontown reopens, it is going to have a large green park area for kids and families to sit and enjoy called CenTOONial Park. There will be an interactive fountain to help cool off guests on a hot day and a play structure for kids to play and crawl on.

Adding to the set of attractions that were already present, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Inside where the El CapiTOON Theater has been added, guests will experience a wacky train ride with Goody as the engineer. The train will maneuver through a series of rooms and have guests interact with screens just as in WDW and Toy Story Midway Mania.

Goofy’s house will be available for kids to explore and will also feature an interactive play yard area.

Next to that, another wet area, Donald’s boat will feature “larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys at Donald’s Duck Pond that will help little ones get the wiggles out.”

I suspect this is where guests may be able to interact with Donald too.

What Stayed the Same?

Minnie and Mickey’s house. Some of the dining areas, and the Roger Rabbit Cartoon spin attraction have not changed.

Wrapping Up

I’m thrilled to see what the re-imagined land will bring. Toontown was one of my favorite areas growing up and I’m happy they kept some of the houses of Mickey and friends for kids to explore. On a hot day the water features will be a welcome way for families and kids to cool down. Having an area for younger kids outside of Fantasyland is an added boon. Disney has announced that there will still be a few surprises coming out way. Stay turned.
